Plant a tree? What is this? Why?
It's simple: On 25th of April it's Arbor Day. Arbor Day is an international holiday to remind us of how important trees and other plants are. It's also meant to inspire you to go out and plant a tree (or in this case: some other plant, depending on your personal liking). Why should I participate? Use
a popular search
engine (google
e.g.) and type „photosynthesis song“ or It's pretty childish, I know... There are far more solid arguments and answers to why you should plant a piece of greenery on that day. Do some further reading and you will find out that trees are live-giving creatures. They are a key element to maintaining balance in our ecosystem. Stop just taking away from our planet. Give something back to mother earth!
Here's the deal: Go out on 25th of April and plant a tree or some other piece of greenery. Film it or take some pictures if possible! Name the plant/tree and tell a little story about it. Does it have a special meaning in your culture, your country, for you? Does the place where you put it have a special meaning for you? Don't forget to say where you're from! Upload the video to youtube (preferably) or some other video sharing site. Submit the link to your video to the email-adress below. Click here to submit your video/pics! (Please, only links to uploaded material, no complete files!)The material will be reassembled and uploaded to youtube. I'll not be able to use all of the material as it may result in a day-long film. Please understand this! Thank you! Where to get a tree/plant/etc.? Ask your parents or grandparents if you don't know where to get that stuff. If necessary, you can also buy a plant. You could plant a seed, cut a little twig and put it in a bottle of water so it can build roots. There a multiple ways to grow/cultivate a plant! |
